Anpanman Train at Takamatsu Station

As we were departing Takamatsu for Oboke and the Iya Valley in central Shikoku, I spied the Anpanman Train waited at Takamatsu Station. The family got the chance to ride another Anpanman Train later the same day from Tadotsu Station. Seems that the Anpanman Trains are a big deal in Shikoku. Even some of the garbage and recycling bins had a Anpanman Theme.

Ultraman and Baikinman at Grinpa

It's funny where you'll find Ultraman or other Japanese characters.  The last time we saw him he was hiding a neighborhood garden.  Here his is in guarding the entrance to the area where all the rides are at Ginpa amusement park.

We also saw Baikinman (ばいきんまん) (Anpanman's nemesis) and other assorted Japanese characters in force.

Happy 30th Anniversary Pac-Man!

It's the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man, and I'm not sure what the exact relationship other than the similar sounding words but... It seems that Pac-Man has invaded the Nikuman (meat buns) section in the neighborhood Sunkus (our local convenience store).

According to the label, it contains some sort of cookie cream filling and it's only ¥120! What a bargain!  I haven't tried one yet, but I'd rather have the Nikuman next to it (which we did buy) or go to a bakery for an Anpan or even Anpanman-pan treat (but that would be another story).
