Sakura Tunnel in Aoyama Bochi
Today, 31 March 2015, is supposed to be the peak for sakura in Tokyo. This photo of the amazing sakura tunnel in Aoyama Bochi was taken two days ago in Sunday morning. Not sure if the blossoms could be much better than this but I am sure that it will be amazing for those visiting today!

Hanami at Yoyogi Koen
The hanami season kicked of this weekend and peak in Tokyo is forecast for Tuesday 1 April 2015. Yoyogi Koen was picture perfect on Saturday and the sakura crazy masses turned out in force.

Sakura is here!
Today started out a little overcast, but the haze burned off by mid-day for a picture perfect afternoon in Yoyogi Koen. The crowds were out picnicking in force, and the sakura was practically in full bloom. On the park's west side, this spectacular cherry tree near the bicycle center was overlooked by many. My family decided that we may return on a less crowded weekday to enjoy a lazy afternoon under this tree.
By the way, isn't it amazing the great job (sharp and contrasty) a humble little 50-mm lens can do. I've really got to shoot with this lens more!

Burgers at the Arms in Yoyogi
Not sure why, but burgers in Tokyo seem to be made with such care and appreciation that it's a culinary art. In recent months, the family has sampled awesome burgers from Burger Mania in Hiroo and Arms in Yoyogi. Both are extremely delicious especially with the preferred sides of fries and a milk shake.
At the Arms, I tried the avocado mushroom cheeseburger, my wife went for the avocado burger and my son chose the classic burger. All were awesome and well worth a return trip. If you choose to visit it's conveniently located near Yoyogi Park away and Yoyogi-Koen Station, but away from the hustle and bustle of Shibuya and Harajuku.

Magnolia Denudata on a fine Spring Day in Yoyogi Koen
Several years ago (back in 2011) I previously posted about magnolia kobus spotted in Sagamihara in Kanagawa, and Roppongi and Azabu Juban in Tokyo. On this fine first Sunday after the vernal equinox, I spotted this majestic magnolia denudata in full flower being appreciated by several onlookers in Yoyogi Koen. Personally, I couldn't tell the difference between the two varieties, but luckily for me the park administrators labeled have this tree.
The sign has the appearance of a medieval torture device, but the coiled wire will slowly unwind as the tree grows.

Invader in Azabu-Juban
In Azabu Juban I spotted this Invader mural across the street on a concrete retaining wall in Roppongi. It looks like it may be missing a tile, but I am not sure. My children have been delighted when they spot a new one in the city.

Gelato in the Juban
Since Summer 2013, I have often walked by Gelateria Marghera and wondered if their pricy gelato is any good. It is a branch of a Milan's most famous ice cream shop. Will it's not too shabby, and rather deliction. On my first or probably many visits, I tried a cup with a scoop of croccante (almond crunch) and a scoop of tiramisu gelato. It was exceptionally creamy, smooth, and sweet. A great way to finish off the evening.
